description

The Mill House is situated in an ideally quiet spot among the gentle hills of Cortona. The town centre of Cortona itself is only 500 metres walk through the park, with Francis Mayes' house, Bramasole, about the same distance in the opposite direction.
The houses offer a superb view over the Valdichiana and its surrounding hills, as far as Lake Trasimeno to the east and Montepulciano to the west.
The view from the windows changes colour according to the time of year: the bright green of springtime, the yellow of the cornfields in the summer, the red-gold of autumn and the white snow in winter.
The accommodation is made up of two completely restored stone houses with their original wood-beamed ceilings and Tuscan terracotta tiled floors.
They are surrounded by a spacious garden where the sun can be enjoyed almost all year round, and beyond, the estate's eight hectare olive grove and woods offer peaceful walks. A short stroll along the Viale del Parterre leads to the centre of town, and equally close by, along Viale Passerini, is Bramasole and the ancient hamlet of Torreone, near to the town's Medici 'Girifalco' fortress.
The owners, farmers and shepherds for four generations, live on the family farm in the Valdichiana, a few killometres away, where guests are welcome to taste the farm's products: olive oil, wine, vin santo, pecorino cheese etc.
